Last night, some of the youth got together and gave Adeline Gan a birthday surprise. Her family went out for dinner with her and when they came home, she was wondering why the lights and fans were switched off and then, when she switched on the lights, she heard the snap of a camera and a flash going off and many voices going

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU ……

We felt that we needed to be serious with our responsibilities and with serving God within the Youth, so we felt an investiture was very important, to pledge before God and man, our commitment to love and serve Him.

Everybody was dressed in their group colors.

Elijah – Red; Elisha – White; Moses – Green and Joshua – Black

Eu Shaun used his God given gift and played the horn for one of our songs during worship – we’d love to have you do that more, Shaun :)

The pledge taking started off with the mentors, Allan, Julius and Veronica.

There was a slight hiccup cos uncle Allan used the wrong hand and so we stopped the pledge taking and resume with his right hand – this is just a simple example of how humans make mistakes and how the leaders can and will make mistakes, but the important thing is to “pick ourselves up” and with GOD’s strength, go on, press on and serve Him. Remember that when we make mistakes, we help each other by building each other up and NOT tearing each other down.

Investiture 2009 July 1, 2009

Hello! Happy July AGcians! :)

This coming week is a big week for the youth! We are having a formal event called the Investiture. An Investiture is a formal ceremony whereby leaders and committees are called forward to take pledges, proclaiming to God and everyone else that he/she will take up their given role, play the role correctly, and play it well.

We will also be launching our youth groups officially! We’re cutting a group cake together and I promise you will have a great time. :)

Please be in AGC at 4:00pm sharp. We’re practicing punctuality and the time police will catch you if you arent!

Because this is a formal event, all members are required to wear formal.
Group Elijah, in red.
Group Elisha, in white.
Group Moses, in green.
Group Joshua, in black.
Remember to follow your group color, and make sure your attire is strictly formal. Your group leaders will approach you if they want to do something out of the norms… like, who knows, wear hats? So wait to hear from them soon!

We are also going to sing this very, very special song. It must be new to you, so do play the song below and learn it for yourself first! Of course, don’t worry, your leaders will teach you this Saturday. :)

*Eventhough this version is totally out of tune, not very nice, and only starts at 0:18 seconds, try to learn it okay!

Forgetting what lies behind
Setting our hearts on the prize
Always keeping our eyes on our Lord Jesus
Running the race to win all the way to the end
Laying down every sin that would seek to hinder us

And we’ll be faithful to our calling
For You are able to keep us from falling
For in Your promise we will trust
We’ll be faithful to finish the work You began in us

We’re holding the line in Him
On the promise He gave
Always setting our hearts on things eternal
Taking the shield of faith
Holding on to His Grace
We’re giving our lives to Him who gave His own

And we’ll be faithful to our calling
For You are able to keep us from falling
For in Your promise we will trust
We’ll be faithful to finish the work You began in us

We’ll be faithful to finish the work You began in us
