Hey folks, Chinese New Year will be upon us next week. What can YOU do to help at home during this festive time
This week, help to clean the home – start with your own room, that should be a pleasant surprise for your parents
You can also help to clear the garden, give all the furniture a good wipe, clean behind cupboards, wipe the windows…..there is so much your parents have to do and without your help, they will be really tired out

Some of our parents love baking and although its not the easiest thing to do, a helping hand will surely be appreciated by your mum

One or two days before the Chinese New Year, your parents, especially your mum, will probably need your help to go marketing, whether at the wet market or at the supermarket. Oh, and being cheerful about it certainly helps make the trip a better one

The New Year’s eve reunion dinner is a BIG thing and there’s LOTS to be done – it’ll be a great chance to learn some cooking and do a good deed helping your parents at the same time

Receiving Ang Pows on New Year’s Day is a wonderful thing – show your parents and elders just how much you appreciate them when you receive the ang pow.
Having relatives is a blessing – don’t let the visitations be just an obligation, but make it a point to know your relatives and enjoy the visit to their homes
Finally, remember that all blessings come from God – set aside your giving from all that you’ve received

Last night was a wonderful night
I was so happy to see Keng Yearn (KKY) and Adeline worship leading

They did a GREAT job using the gifts God gave them
Then there was this handsome Lum Fong guy who did a great job with the emceeing….

…..together with Lester on the drums, Kingsley on the bass, Peklyn on the guitar, and Jee Yann on the piano…
Yeah, seriously, Joseph, we’d like to see you more often in the front, using the talents He has blessed you with.
Ooi Tong, Lester, Joy and Adeline danced beautifully (I was so engrossed that I forgot to take a pic of it, but if some of you have it, please send a compressed copy to us)

I only have this picture of the girls, but none of the guys – sorry
I must say that I really enjoyed the sharing session and I want to thank Jee Yann for sharing not only from his thoughts but also through his music – that was really good, so Jee Yann, perhaps you can place it in this blog so that we can click on it to listen to? Of course we can’t forget our very own PYY who was the facilitator for the sharing sessions
I was told that Sarah was the one who planned the program, so, “Thanks Sarah, for a great program and for your creativeness”.
To Aunty Poh Kiem, Leanne and Ernest who helped with the food, many thanks to you too, and of course, not forgetting the many who brought food for our midnight makan….. thanks a bunch

To uncle Pang Keong too, thanks for challenging us with your words of wisdom.
In closing, I’d like to share these verses with you as we start 2009
Colossians 3:12-17
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
