Yesterday was our combined easter meeting with Melawati Gospel Centre. Our guest speaker was Jamie Kidd.
We want to thank Ian, Jeff, Winson and Jee Yann for hauling all the equipment and musical instruments to UKRC.
No meeting in Malaysia is complete without food
Thanks to MGC for looking into our stomach needs.
We probably had about 150+ people at this meeting.
Jee Yann, our worship leader with Ian on the lead guitar.
Kingsley, on the bass.
And Lester on the drums. Thanks guys, for putting in the effort, for the time spent on preparation and for your hearts to serve.
Melawati gave a beautiful song and mime.
Jessica Ho was able to direct our thoughts to God with her dance.

And last but not least, our invited speaker, Jamie who encouraged us with how God loved him so much. Thank you for availing yourself to share God’s love with us.

This might be a little late, but for those of you who don’t know:
On the 29th of March, Saturday, there will be a easter youth rally jointly organized by AGC and Melawati Gospel Centre. The main speaker will be Jamie Kidd, an ex-soldier in Iraq who became an evangelist. Come to hear his testimony of how an amazing encounter with God changed his life.
Venue: Ulu Klang Recreation Centre
Time: 7:15pm
Date: 29/3/2008 (Saturday)
There will be presentations by the youth from AGC and MGC alike, so don’t miss them. Especially the TV drama skit we came up with. Actually, especially the dance item featuring one of Malaysia’s finest dancers. Come to find out who.
Hope to see you all there. : )

Quit-rent exemption for places of worship
By WANI MUTHIAH and EDWARD RAJENDRA
SHAH ALAM: There will be no more quit rent and assessment rates for all registered places of worship in Selangor, and a token annual fee of only RM1 will be introduced instead, said Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim. “Our executive councillors have come to a decision to introduce a nominal annual fee of RM1 for places of worship. Once this is implemented, it would lift the burden of paying quit rent and assessment rates, thus allowing them to channel funds into their own activities,” he said Wednesday after the state exco meeting. Khalid added that the RM1 token fee would also apply for vernacular and national-type schools throughout the state. Former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo had also waived close to RM500, 000 in quit rent arrears, owed by vernacular schools, three months ago. Dr Khir had said the move was to ensure schools would not be bogged down by fund-raising activities and could concentrate instead on educating the children. Klang Valley Taoism Association chairman Yeoh Choo Beng, 59, said the RM1 nominal fee for places of worship showed that the new government had a caring approach. “This is good as Chinese temples operate on contributions from devotees. We also hope the government will help the Chinese temples, and even our Buddhist brothers, with special allocations for our activities,” he said. Former Sree Selvavinayagar Temple chairman N.P. Raman said the move to do away with the quit rent and assessment rates for places of worship was a good move as the money could be channelled into temple activities. “We are thankful to the new government’s initiatives. Hindus throughout the state are appreciative, and want the state to gazette Hindu temples and recognise some that are 100-year-old as heritage buildings,” he said. Raman said Selangor had some beautiful mosques, and Chinese and Hindu temples that were rich in culture, and should be promoted to tourists.

Church Bulletin Bloopers
Thank God for church ladies with typewriters. These sentences actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services:

Parking Space March 25, 2008

(Got this from http://www.danggoodjokes.com/holyhumor/)
A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn’t find a space with a meter. Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read:
“I have circled the block 10 times. If I don’t park here, I’ll miss my appointment. FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES.”

When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note.”I’ve circled this block for 10 years. If I don’t give you a ticket, I’ll lose my job. Lead Us Not Into Temptation.”
